Principal's Message

Sheri Weinstein, Principal

Located in the northeast section of Dumont, Grant School has been serving the needs of our elementary school children for over 100 years. We have just under 400 students currently enrolled in our K-5 program. Our facilities are updated and well maintained. Our new addition boasts state of the art Music and Art rooms, as well as an All-Purpose Room that houses our Physical Education and lunch programs. All students have daily access to technology including Smartboards, laptops and Ipads to enhance learning and develop 21st Century Learning Skills.

Grant School is a student-centered place for learning. Our teachers are known throughout the community for their love of children and for their willingness to provide extra time to help students develop essential skills. 

Social Emotional Learning and Character Education is embedded in all we do. In the classrooms, our teachers constantly differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of our students. With respect to our curriculum, our language arts program is anchored by balanced literacy. Our math, social studies, science, physical education/health curricula are all guided by the New Jersey Student Learning Standards.

We are proud of the extracurricular programs, which provide opportunities for positive student engagement and activism. Participants in our music program are given the opportunity to perform several times per year in concerts and assemblies. All of our students contribute to our annual Art Show. Student government, safety patrol, recess coaches and peer mediation programs allow students opportunities to engage in leadership. These and other outlets encourage students to become cultured, informed and caring young citizens. Our partnership is strong with the Parent Teacher Organization. Students are supported in countless ways by parents and teachers working together to provide students with an enriched school environment.
